Labor Day Weekend

So we're back from our camping trip. It was fun. We went back to the same place we went last weekend, but stayed at a different site. We got there Thursday afternoon and set up camp at Meadow Creek Campground. It was right next to a river, and I loved the noise!

Adam and I went for a short hike (because, as much as I try, I just don't like hiking) and then we went back to camp for the evening. On Friday Adam climbed Mt. David (7,420ft.) in only 8 hours while I went fishing. That was a fiasco. I caught a 10 inch brook trout, and had wanted to throw it back, but it swallowed the hook, and pretty much started dying right away. I had to "finish it off" which is the only thing I can't do while fishing. I didn't bring a knife or anything with me, since I thought I'd throw it back, so I borrowed some little boys.

Once back at camp I was standing in the river washing my bloody fish pants and Adam's huge hunting knife. My neighbor stared at me for a while, and then went back into her Truck RV. By the look on her face, she seemed to be wondering where my partner was, why was I covered in blood, and what did I need such a huge knife. She looked relieved when I came back with Adam.

Jay and Jennie, Adam's friends, joined us on Friday night. It was fun to have other people with us. Jennie and Adam climbed Basalt Peak (5,500 ft) on Saturday, while Jay and I went fishing. Fishing wasn't to great, and so we went back to the camp site to wait for Adam and Jennie to return. I took a nap, and Jay went fly fishing. Not sure exactly how Adam can hike for so long two days in a row and not fall over from exhaustion. Although his ankle was pretty sore Saturday night.

I got a migraine around dinner time, and that was it for the rest of my trip. Adam was wonderful and took great care of me. I am so lucky. On Sunday, we drove to the barn were Adam and I worked with Denali. He is a great horseman. It looks like he found his horse! lol, I guess I'll need to fine another one (just kidding mom!) We went to Fred Meyers and bought packing tape. Tomorrow's goal. Pack 5 boxes.

All and all, it was a good weekend. Probably our last relaxing one for a while!

Maybe I should tell people about this...

I realized today that I've been writing on this blog, but have yet to share the address. It would probably make more sense to write a blog and let people read it.

Today was pretty crazy. I went to work until noon, and then went to see Denali. She was still super lame. The poor thing hasn't been out of her stall in almost three weeks. She hates being in her stall, but is getting really fat. The only way to keep her happy is to feed her. She's been grazing on grass pellets everyday. She's gone through 200 pounds of them. I figured it's probably about time to stop feeding her so much. She's going to be a porker.

She got her feet done today by a different farrier. I really liked her. Denali was misbehaved, as usual, but that's my fault. I need to be more stern with her. I swear she has horse ADHD if that's even possible. She gets really interested in something, and then, bam, she's onto something new. She's the horse version of me. I'm convinced. I spend so much time on cleaning her up, and brushing her hair, and about five minutes later she's covered in dirt and you'd think that she was a wild pony beast.

I left the barn and came home, (after two hours in traffic.) I missed Crew, which made me very sad. Tomorrow morning is my last time before Denmark. I also managed to lock the keys in the car. Thankfully, Adam is an awesome/quick bike rider, and was able to come to my rescue! He's awesome!

Well that's it. We're going camping this weekend with friends of ours. I think Jays just in it for the Smores! I'm pretty excited.

2 Years!

I must say, I was impressed with Adam! He did a great job today. We've been married for two years, it doesn't seem that long.

This morning I went to crew at 6:15, with my friend Laurelin, and learned how to skull. For some reason, I volunteered to go in the single. I was terrified, but it was pretty much awesome! I love crew! ANYWAY, the point of this is that I got home around 8:30 to breakfast!! Adam made pancakes, and he bought me my FAVORITE High Pulp orange juice. It was pretty much awesome. He gave me an awesome gift! I had told him before to NEVER buy me anything again. That Denali is the best gift ever! (That I bought myself :-) So I open my gift, and it is a picture of Denali! I love it!!!

We spent the day running errands, getting a new storage unit, and ordering Danish Kroner. We stopped by Hamilton to grab some boxes, and I made sure to laugh at everyone! (I won't laugh when the paychecks stop coming.)

The best part of the night is that I was going to make dinner for Adam, but instead he surprised me and took me to an awesome Mediterranean resturant. It was SO good!! Adam complimented the chef, and thanked him for making our night special and the chef gave us baklava. It was pretty much the tastiest thing ever! I tried to convince Adam that it was poisoned, but it didn't work.

Great Day! Great Husband! Great Life!

The reasons we should backpack into the wilderness...

So, Adam and I went for a short camping trip this past weekend. It was our first one of the year. I wish we weren't both so busy, but that's life. We went to Lake Wenatchee, and drove 11 miles up the forest road to White River Falls camping spot. Adam wanted to stay there because it was so far away. I was very upset we were so far away from the fishing. I changed my mind once I saw the horse trailer in the next spot over.

We spent Friday driving around, and I talked Adam into going fishing at 2 o'clock (I know dad, nothing bites at 2.) We got some hot dogs (because there was no fish) and headed back to our campsite. By then our neighbors had arrived and had their horses high tied for the night. Adam and I started dinner while I drooled over the horses.

The guy came over and offered us his ax. I got to talking to him about his horses, who were his girlfriends, and their trip that day. The lady came over and told me I could take her horse for a ride if I wanted to. Of Course! Red, was the most responsive horse EVER. He was trained to be a roping horse, and he spun on a dime. While I was off having fun, Adam got to listen to our neighbors yelling at each other. We listened to them late into the evening.

We woke up early in the morning and Adam made breakfast. We walked down to see the Falls, that were beautiful! We got back to the car and started to drive out. About a mile away from the campsite we noticed something down the road. There was our neighbor, without his girlfriend, hitch hiking. We picked him up and drove him to the highway. It would have been a LONG walk for him. It is 11 miles to the ranger station, and then another 6 or 7 to the highway.

After that excitement, we went fishing. I caught two HUGE perch. At least three inches (lol.) We watched the other fishing jump all over, taunting me. We left there, and went to the Lake to swim.

Overall, it was an interesting trip. We probably won't be camping much in Copenhagen. We're going to be going again this weekend.

We're leaving on a jet plane....

and we don't know when we'll be back again. No, really. We have no clue! Lol. We finally realized today that we move in less than a month. September 20th we leave Seattle. I love Seattle!! I'm really going to miss it! We'll be back in PA for 9 days visiting family and relaxing, hopefully, before we leave for Denmark on the 29th of September. Lots of stuff to do in the next month!! We are leaving tomorrow for a quick mini-camping trip in the North Cascades. The more we're away from our home, the easier it is to procrastinate with packing!!!
